Who We Are

UnitTimeline.com is part of The Registry of American Veterans, Inc., an organization founded by Jack Knight and Jeff Schaefer.

Jack is a 23-year veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces (Army and Marines). And Jeff has more than 26 years of experience as a computer systems architect and engineer.

Together, we have two primary goals:

1. Preserve and honor the rich histories of U.S. military units from the point of view of service members. 
2. Assist veterans of the U.S. military in finding and connecting with each other.

A Note From Our Founders

During our early conversations on what has now become UnitTimeline.com we recognized the importance of preserving the memories of our veterans and the rich histories of the units in which they served. And we recognized the existing technology available to veterans was inadequate in many ways. So we designed UnitTimeline.com with these goals:

1. Deliver a set of tools designed specifically for preserving U.S. Military unit histories from the point of view of the unit members.
2. Deliver the ability to locate service members by service branch and unit, locations where stationed or deployed, and by certain periods of time.
3. Present potentially complicated and lengthy unit histories in an easy-to-understand format, while also making it easy to find detailed historical accounts of important events in the history of each Unit.
4. Make it easy for veterans to connect with each other either in direct one-on-one communications or in unit-specific group conversations.
5. Make it easy for veterans, family of veterans, or close friends of veterans to donate historical items of interest to their respective units in UnitTimeline.com.
6. Ensure the contributions, sacrifices, and accomplishments of our service members are never forgotten, even if all unit members are unable to continue supporting their respective Units.
